Matte, gloss or satin: which stretch ceiling to choose
The differences between matte, gloss and satin film, and which finish suits which room best.

With a classic stretch ceiling you choose between three finishes: matte, gloss and satin. All three are equally durable, easy to clean and in the same price range, so the choice is mostly about looks and the room.
Matte: like a freshly painted ceiling
Matte film does not reflect light and looks most like a traditional ceiling, only perfectly flat. It suits any style, from classic to minimalist, and does not draw attention to itself. If you cannot decide, matte is the safest choice.
Good for: living rooms, bedrooms, children’s rooms and offices.
Gloss: more light and a taller room
Gloss film reflects light and, like a mirror, shows part of the room. That makes the room look taller and larger. Lights and furniture are reflected in it, which is often a welcome effect in modern interiors.
Good for: small and low rooms, hallways, bathrooms and modern kitchens.
Satin: a soft sheen
Satin film sits between the two: it has a soft, pearly sheen but shows almost no reflections. Light spreads evenly across it, so the ceiling looks warm and refined.
Good for: bedrooms, living rooms and rooms where you want a little more than matte, without strong reflections.
How to decide
- Is the room low or small? Choose gloss.
- Do you want a calm, classic look? Choose matte.
- Want something in between? Choose satin.
- You can combine finishes in one home, for example gloss in the hallway and bathroom and matte in the rooms.
All three films come in white and in other colours. If you cannot decide, ask us for samples so you can see them in your own room and light.
